Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is the highest standard of industrial wastewater management. Every drop of wastewater is treated and concentrated to produce only a dry solid salt cake — zero liquid leaves the plant boundary. Recovered water (95–100%) is reused for process, cooling or boiler makeup.
ZLD is mandatory under NGT for textile dyeing, tanneries, distilleries, sugar mills and large power plants. We design complete ZLD trains: advanced ETP → UF → RO → MEE/MVR evaporation → ATFD/crystalliser → solid waste management.
High-pressure RO concentrates ETP-treated water before thermal evaporation. 75–85% recovery, 98%+ TDS rejection.
3–6 effect MEE concentrates RO reject from 5% to 30% TDS. Reuses latent heat across stages. 60–70% steam saving.
Mechanical vapour recompression — most energy efficient. 12–18 kWh/tonne. No external steam. For >500 KLD.
Agitated thin film dryer produces >95% dry solids salt cake. Final stage of true ZLD.
Forced circulation crystalliser produces NaCl/Na₂SO₄ crystals (>92% purity) — marketable as industrial salt.
Complete water balance — MEE/MVR condensate (pure distillate) + RO permeate. Net fresh water saving 95–100%.
